Who is Chester Tam
Chester Tam is a father, husband, problem solver, activist, leader, and lifelong Massachusetts resident. Growing up, Chester spent 13 years working in his parents’ restaurant, where he learned firsthand the value of hard work, responsibility, and what it truly takes to run a small business.
After graduating from college with a degree in Athletic Training, Chester gained additional professional training and hands-on experience that strengthened his understanding of teamwork, discipline, and problem-solving under pressure landing a position as a tech support analyst. He went on to build a career spanning more than 25 years in the technology sector, holding positions of increasing responsibility across software, pharmaceutical, financial, and healthcare companies. This experience gave him a deep understanding of how businesses operate, how regulations impact growth, and how innovation improves lives.
Chester’s life experiences both in small business and corporate environments have shaped him into a practical problem solver who understands the challenges facing working families, entrepreneurs, and seniors alike. He is running for State Representative to bring common-sense leadership, accountability, and real-world experience to Beacon Hill.
Lifelong Resident
Chester Tam was born in Taunton and moved with his family to Dartmouth in 1978. His family later settled in Fairhaven, where Chester grew up and lived through his college years.
After graduating from Bridgewater State University, Chester moved to Newton, where he began his career in the technology sector and spent five years building his professional foundation. He later lived in West Roxbury for two years and then Quincy for ten years, gaining firsthand experience with the challenges and opportunities facing communities across the Commonwealth.
Eventually, Chester returned to Dartmouth, where his roots remain to raise his children. Having lived, worked, and raised a family across multiple Massachusetts communities, Chester understands the diverse needs of residents throughout the state and is committed to representing them with experience, perspective, and common sense.

Advocacy Rooted in Action
At 48, Chester Tam stepped into a new chapter of public service, dedicating much of his time to advocacy and grassroots activism across Massachusetts. Rather than watching from the sidelines, Chester chose to get involved by attending town halls, public meetings, and community events to listen, learn, and stand alongside others who are working to bring real change to our state.
Through this work, Chester has built strong relationships with advocates, community leaders, and everyday citizens who share a commitment to accountability, transparency, and common sense solutions. His advocacy is not about headlines or politics. It is about showing up, engaging with people, and turning concerns into action.
That hands on experience is what drives Chester’s campaign and gives him a deep understanding of the issues facing Massachusetts residents along with a genuine commitment to representing their voices at the State House.
